Meet Charity

This is a blog about love. Love of faith, love of family, love of food, and love of life.

I've blogged in this space for quite some time now but I feel like a reintroduction is in order, and so it goes....

I'm Charity, Christ follower, wife of 10+ years to a man I met at Publix, and twin mommy to two sweet boys. If you've been around from the start you know that we've been through quite a lot before our boys came along. When I started this blog in 2012 I was experiencing one of the biggest transitions in my life. My husband and I had moved 1300 miles for work to New York City. We were separated from our church, family, and friends. I focused on my faith, my marriage, and yummy vegan food to find myself again - this blog was a way to rediscover the me that was buried under years of infertility.

Through writing here I learned that I could again find joy in reading, baking, and restoring old furniture after I reconnected with my maker. I also have a passion for living life green and caring for the earth. My family and I live simple. Once upon a time I owned a photography business and shot weddings just about every weekend. That changed in April 2014 when my husband and I found out we were expecting twins. Just two short months later we packed up our things and moved from New York to a little city in South Florida that we affectionately call "The Farm".

After 3 years in New York City and after a whole 8 years of waiting we are experiencing another huge transition, parenthood. While I can't say we were thrust into this role, it's still surprising and all encompassing. Our children, our long awaited prayer, our dream come true - they exist at the center of our lives.

When I originally began this blog as The Word of A Nerd, I chatted about infertility, faith, and food. Well thanks to God we can skip right on over the infertility talk. While I likely won't write much else on the subject you can feel free to search the archives on my blog or email me questions about our journey. My blog has a new direction. I suppose now it'll be all about dreams coming true, faith, mothering twin boys, and when I can finally have more than an hour to myself I may post a recipe or two. So I hope you'll tag along with me as I journey through this new life with babies in the mix.

I use Instagram a lot, hangout with me @nerdandbabes.

When did you start blogging?

I began my blogging journey in December 2012 after starting a Tumblr blog to answer questions for an online Christian Bible challenge I was participating in. After answering the questions for the challenge I saw that I had a great amount of feedback and people were truly interested in my relationship with Christ  so I thought I would try my third and final attempt at blogging, praying that God would use me to reach people. I hope this third time will be the charm.

Why blog?

This is a Christian lifestyle blog where I’d liked to share my adventures as a Christian Wife and Mommy, a City Dweller, a Traveler of Time, and a Vegetarian Chef. I would like to inspire other women and maybe men too with stories from my life and about my faith.  I hope you will enjoy riding the waves of life with me, as I eat, pray, and love.

Though I’m a professional photographer it’s not always practical to a huge camera around my neck when I’m doing projects or cooking. I switch between these cameras while still trying to deliver high quality photos. What I shoot with really depends on my mood or what I'm doing.

Here's what I shoot with:

• An iPhone 6+
• A Canon Xsi or EOS 5D Mark II
• Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM Lens - wide angle and portraits.
• Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM Lens- for portraits.
