Happy Earth Day Loves.

I can hardly believe that one of my favorite days has almost slipped past me. I love celebrating the earth and I love getting out to enjoy the beauty of this day.

Unfortunately as I type this I am sitting in my Ikea robe with a bonnet on my head and slippers on my feet. Im as slow as a slug and have no plans for Earth Day 2014. Each year I do make a pledge to be greener and you can see my pledge from last year here.

This year I've only taken a few steps to be greener, but a few steps is all it takes right?

  • We no longer get receipts at ATMs, Starbucks, or any other stores that offer email receipts.
  • I no longer use wax paper when baking, received silpat mats for my birthday this year. I am so excited to make my favorite pastime more green.
  • I faithfully use my own glass coffee cup no matter where I go - doctors office, starbucks, etc. It's tiny and fits right in my purse.

Here are a few ways you can be greener:

Bring your own grocery bags to the store.

Go paperless on your bills.

By towels instead of paper towels to dry your hands.

Reuse glass jars for storage or tupperware.

Make your own toiletries and laundry soap. Pinterest has many recipes for this.

By less processed and pre packaged food - it saves the earth and it's better for you.

  1. Happy earth day!
I have a baking mat and I love it! I use it all the time and not only is it greener it's a lot less mess for me in the kitchen.

  2. Great ideas! They banned plastic bags in Austin and are talking about doing it Dallas too. It's hard to get used to, but amazing the difference it makes to allow no one to use plastic bags!!

  3. Here in Australia plastic bags are banned in supermarket stores. I have a baking mat too! I'll have to make sure to use it more often.

  4. Happy Earth Day my friend! Plastic bags are banned in Portland too. I keep my reusable bags in my car so that I don't forget them when I'm shopping!

  5. Happy Earth Day! I've been thinking of you. :-)

  6. Good ideas!!! I'd love to see this tiny little glass cup of yours! such a clever idea! I wish they'd ban plastic bags here in brisbane - very rarely see it and it so needs to be done!!

  7. I will be so happy when they just outlaw plastic shopping bags nationwide. When we lived in CA, they just do not exist and when we moved to TX, there were literally plastic bags hanging off of trees along the highway. Real shocker! You are putting us all to shame, however, by toting your glass coffee mug to Starbucks. Bravo! Happy Earth Day a little late!
