Dancing in Public

10 December 2013

I told you all that this month I wanted to work on embracing my husband and I's differences. As we progressed through this week I sat down and wrote a list of the differences in our personalities and thought I would share. This list is just the surface of our differences, really I could go on and on. It did give me a laugh to see our differences written out. It's probably best that I didn't know a few of these things until after we said I do as I am not sure if we would have gotten married if I had known he likes to wake up with music....kidding. Some days I would let these tiny differences bug me to no end - but when I look at them now I see that we really balance each other out. Seriously it's probably not a good idea to dance everywhere so having a husband who stops me from dancing at Target has probably save me from getting the "she's a crazy lady" stares. So this week I am still pushing forward in finding joy in our differences both big and small.

Your Turn: How are you and your spouse different? Who is the dancer in your relationship?

  2. This made me laugh, thinking about the ways The Hubs and I are different. It's funny... he's the dancer in public, but only when it's with me and the boys. We both have a completely different personality when it's just our little family together. Both of us are way more reserved when we're around anyone else. But there have been so many times we're in Target or the grocery store that he just starts dancing or something and I remind him that SOMEBODY is watching... probably laughing at the security screen. He usually then finds the camera and dances TOWARD it. I'm way to scared to do anything like that!

  3. My mind immediately went to Lionel Richie when I saw your title for some reason. Ha! I love that you are able to appreciate all those differences and see how they really work for you. We all have quirks and things that bug us about our spouse from time to time, but if they were gone we'd miss them! I think of that every time my hubby's snoring wakes me up and I can't get back to sleep!

  4. I love this post! My husband and I are very much a like in a lot of ways so reading this list reminded me that we aren't as different as I thought we were. Our differences are actually quite humorous though! Love this post idea.

  5. ha! I love the list! The 'he likes no space b/w us' cracks me up! That is Colby!! He SMOTHERS me 24/7! I was just asking him last night what he was going to do when we had our babies and he said he would still be by my side ALL the time, we will see ;) It's crazy to see how much you and I are alike and Colby and your hubs are alike! A lot of these resonate with us too!
