Monday Mashup: Birthday Edition

11 March 2013

Hey Lovelies,

I am still on a high from my birthday, which was yesterday. I know it' MOONNDAY but lets relive the weekend and make your day brighter!

We'll start from Friday. I told you all that I would be going to spend a little time with my sisters in Christ as we shopped around for a wonderful cause. Our Barbie for that day was very patient with all the clothes that we threw her way, and happily tried any and everything on. It was awesome to see the expression on her face when she felt good about the clothing choices. The highlights of that day were no only boosting her self esteem, but indulging in girl time, having lunch, and staying under budget for all the clothes that she was able to get. It totaled to six outfits and two sets of accessories! Great job right? We got everything at Kohl's. I even got two pairs of my first skinny jeans!

Saturday was a pretty low key day, but the highlight of that was finally taking a day off to wash my hair and to have some Panera Bread. I've been eating clean since I came to Florida for work in February and let me just say it has been a long road ahead. I am so happy to have a little carbs and sugar....my brain was happy too - not sure if my body will be. Nevertheless no regrets!

I promise to never make this face again!

On Saturday night, Sunday wee morning hours as a nation we also Sprung Forward. Collectively we pushed our clocks forward and involuntarily gave up one hour of sleep. Proving to make the next day all the more of a challenge - so Sunday was a very long day. Every year on my birthday I always plan to pack the day with as much as possible. I always have an itinerary for that day. Don't believe me? Look below.

Yes I am slightly OCD, but on my day everyone pacifies me and deals with it. I have to say I think many people enjoy not having to think about the details when they celebrate with me. There is more time to just focus on the fun. Like the list above says we started out by having a breakfast a Denny's. In order to accomplish this before church I had to be up and out of the door by 7:30am. I actually made it out of the house by 7am. My Mom, Step-dad and I enjoy a nice quiet breakfast. Of course mine was free and very delicious. Free stuff always tastes better!

Our Dennys' cappuccinos were discontinued so since we had time to spare after eating breakfast we made a quick stop at Starbucks. I mean who could really complain! Denny's cappucino over a Free Starbucks Soy Vanilla Latte? Never. No way. The three of us sat in Starbucks passing time before church and it was wonderful. We prayed and read the last day of my 365 devotional, which happens to have coincided with my birthday because I was given the book last year as a birthday gift. This stop at Starbucks was unplanned but so much fun.

Our church service was amazing and left a lot of us blushing you can check out that HERE.

Following church we saw Oz: The Great and Powerful at our local movie theatre in 3D. I usually don't care to much for 3D movies but the effects were great, it was fun, and it was free. The movie is the prequel to the Wizard of Oz movie classic and is based on the book by L.Frank Baum.
Nerding it up in our 3D glasses!

After the movie I caught lunch with a friend and her husband. They were so sweet they treated my mom and I both to pizza. It was an amazing time of fellowship and fun. I am so thrilled that I was able to celebrate with them especially since I will be heading back home in a few days. We didn't get any pictures because we were having a deep conversation about the Bible Series that is running on the History Channel. It's so awesome check it out.

To close off the night my mom and I spent time shopping at Sawgrass Mill's Mall and we caught a late dinner at Joe's Crab Shack. I must admit I love celebrating the day with just me and her, after all it's our special day - the day that she birthed me into the world. This year I was happy to have had a few more people share in the fun but I soaked up every single moment I could with my wonderful and amazing mom.
How cool is it that the wall above my seat said my name "Charity", God is so awesome.

We finally arrived home at 11:30pm. We lit the cake, sung, and prayed as I blew out the candles just before bedtime. I enjoyed a slice of my favorite homemade Coconut Cake with the ones that I loved. It was the perfect way to end a beautiful day.

My weekend was fabulous and surely one I will never forget. How was yours?

P.S.
In blog news the second Open Letter in my Letters To God series is posted HERE. I also posted an ABC's of me post HERE. Check them out when you  can.

XOXO,
Charity
