Influenster & Vox Box Reveal

05 March 2013

Hey Lovelies,

In my previous post I revealed to you that I had been chosen to receive Influenster's February Sweetheart Vox Box. So here is the post I promised with all the deets about the products that I reviewed.

First up, the Vox Box arrived with the cutest little heart on it, it was a lovely surprise in the mailbox because I did not expect for it to come so fast. I had actually received my Cara Box the day before. So I wasn't expecting any happy mail for a few days.

Inside the box there was the Olay Fresh Effects cleansing system, Not Your Mother's Volumizing hairspray, Secret Clinical Strength Stress Response Deodorant, and a Skinnygirl On-the-Go Bar.
Up for review is the Olay Fresh Effects cleansing system. I tried the cleanser and pulsating brush system. The idea behind the brush system was great, it seems as if Olay wanted to use vibrations to loosen up dirt particles in your pores and on your skin. While the cleanser smelled good, there are way to many unknown cleaning agents in for me to give it my stamp of approval. But if you do not worry about what chemicals make up your beauty products - this product may be just what you are looking for. The smell is awesome and the brush tickles your skin as it vibrates. The Shine Go Away cleanser is awesome for keeping a matte look on your face in humid climates but like I stated earlier if Olay would develop a natural or organic line it would be even more awesome!

As a girl when I first started wearing deodorant Secret was my family's go to brand. It was a long time lady staple and I still remember their slogan too - "Strong enough for a man, but made for a woman!" It's been several years since I used Secret products so I was very excited to see the Secret Clinical Strength Stress Response deodorant in the box. The negative sides to this product is it's fragrance which is very strong and the high aluminum content. That being said I had used clinical strength deodorants in the past for years to reduce sweat and odor, the aluminum is what makes these products effective. If you are looking for something stronger than your normal deodorant this products is for you. I can attest to its ability to help us Sweaty Betty's control our sweat glands at crucial points of the day. There is also good news about the fragrance, Secret does offer an array of scents for those of you who do not like strongly scented deodorants. They even have one for sensitive skin. Check out their other scents HERE.

The last of the beauty products was the Not Your Mother's Volumizing Hair Spray. I have to say just the title of this product alone made me chuckle, what a wonderful marketing strategy - these are surely unforgettable product names. I tried the Volumizing Hair Spray on day old curls that I wanted to retain for church. They held up pretty well even after being pulled on by the babies in our church nursery. What I loved about the product was it's gentle fragrance and the fact that while it held my hair up with volume it did not make it crunchy. If you are looking for something with a soft hold try this. I am now wanting to try the Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray.

Last up for review is the Skinnygirl Daily On-The-Go Bars, in the . These are meant to be sweet healthy treats and depending on how many calories you are eating they may even out to be a meal, coupled with a yogurt or something. This On-the-Go bar is 180 calories of Kosher Fiber Rich goodness. But bad news for vegans and people with diary allergies, this flavor contains lactose and dry milk solids. However if you are only staying away from gluten you can still indulge because it's gluten free. I did not get a chance to eat the bar myself for the reasons mentioned above, but my close friend ate it and said "Ummm it's so good, thanks for letting me eat it. My review is that it's tasty and just what I needed to hold me over until dinner." She wasn't too thrilled about the caloric value but as a snack she said it was perfect in between meals. So if you are interested you can pick up these sweet healthy treats online at Vitacost.com or Amazon, they retail for about $8.49. Otherwise they can also be purchased from the Skinnygirl Daily website for $12.99 for a 5 pack, they are also available in three other flavors.
